Of course we rushed our butts up here only to have everything that was happening come to a screeching halt. Ahem. On the other hand, I feel that we are exactly where we are supposed to be. It's only been today that I feel like I don't still have a million things on my to do list, and actually have had some Zoe-free time thanks to preschool and play dates, which of course makes everything feel a bit more spacious.
Speaking of Zoe, she's been fairing pretty well. We find that she needs more sleep here. Maybe it's all the fresh air, and it's definitely the huge change in routine. I think it's been a bit of an adjustment for her. Yesterday was a pretty hard today, but today so far has been better. We've been talking to her a lot about being respectful, listening the first time we ask her to do something, asking for things nicely, etc. This is not the norm at home, but to be expected given our abrupt departure and lack of schedule - really for the past several weeks, as she's been out of school on Winter Break since before Christmas. But, like I said, she appears to be in better spirits today, so I'm hopeful that continues.
We are anxiously awaiting Sherry's arrival this evening!! She should get here around 7:30 or so. We have lovely friends who are fetching her from the Nashville airport (Thanks, Nic and Andrew!!) and bringing her to us so that we don't have to do the round-trip three-hour drive. Once she gets here, it's 'Go baby, Go!' Bring it on, Baby Shankland. Maybe a day with Sherry before you arrive would be nice, but I'm just happy you appear to be holding out for her arrival. Thanks for working with me on that one!
I need to take more pictures of the cabin, and more pictures of us, and upload them here for y'all to get the full flavor of our experience. I heard from my Sis that the pics of the cabin from before we were staying here (and added our own decorating touches to the place) don't do it justice. I will do that in the next couple of days. Maybe. Maybe not. Heh. I'd rather be knitting right now, so that's just what I'm going to do...
